School Bus Studio, a nonprofit 501(c)3, was founded by Krista Hines, who has a BA in Art Education and is currently working on a nonprofit degree.  She has illustrated several books and has taught art in her mountain community for the past 20 years.  The geographical location she lives and teaches in is a small rural area, with a lack of volunteer opportunities for young people.  Krista saw this need, and felt compelled to make a change.  Her vision is to convert a school bus into a traveling art studio, for artistic hands to create better communities.   Providing fun, unique art experiences for participants of all ages and meaningful volunteer opportunities for young people, ages 5 to 18 years old.  Volunteers will be given the opportunity to impact not only their own community, but many others, by traveling to hospitals, nursing homes, homeless shelters, and anywhere else that we can share our love for art.

School Bus Studio's mission is for volunteers to work with people of all ages and demographic groups, using artistic expression as a catalyst for healing.  Through visual arts, our hope is to establish relationships with a variety of individuals, while providing a creative environment that encourages self-discovery, and enhances their physical, mental and emotional well-being.  The overall goal is to get kids and young adults to volunteer, and to show them the importance of giving back to others.  By volunteering, they will have a sense of purpose, build self-confidence, learn new skills, gain professional experience, and make social connections.  Creating successful kids who get on board!

Best of all...
the art bus comes to you!
